Kioni earned her first academic award today. Kumon Philippines awarded her Advanced Student Honor Roll for Kumon Reading, that means she is 3 years ahead of her peers. (In fact, she is about 5-6 years ahead, but they only give award up to 3 years ahead). We are extremely proud of her. She didn't quite understand what was going on, because she loves to do her Kumon, so she didn't really "work hard" for it. Kioni is two years younger than the next youngest awardee.
You might worry that she is too young for this and that we are pushing her too far. The fact is, we never pushed her. She is enrolled in Kumon Math also, but she is not half as interested in it as Reading. And we already know pushing does not work. Interests and motivation is why she is so good at Reading.

Kioni on the far right is obviously the shortest and youngest of them all. She is also holding the "Top Ten Trophy" (see explanation below).

Her Dream Card - she wrote this all by herself - My dream is to: "Write a story about horses, go to college and study about animals, teach people about God. Become a pianist and a dancer."

We were pleasantly surprised by the award of this trophy. This heavy glass trophy was awarded to Kioni because she ranks 4th in Kumon Reading at her grade level in the entire country of the Philippines! We couldn't be prouder.
